Inaugural network meeting at Leeds University, December 2014

Date: Tuesday 9th December 2014

Time & Location: 11 am, room 12.39 (Social Sciences)

The Critical Race & Ethnicities Network (CREN) is hosting an introductory meeting at Leeds, this Tuesday 9th December at 11am and would like to invite all interested postgraduates to attend.

The meeting will take place in room 12.39 in the Social Sciences building (opposite the Edward Boyle Library), and will last approximately one hour.

CREN is a postgraduate-led network which is committed to exploring issues of race and ethnicity within academic research and practice. Set up by students at the Universities of Sheffield, Leeds & York, CREN has now received White Rose funding to run a small series of events between 2014-15, which will culminate with a major conference in June 2015. This meeting is designed to bring together other postgraduate students working in the areas of critical race theory, postcolonial studies and feminism, to find out what students at Leeds would like to see from such a network, and to gather ideas about the kinds of events which CREN should run at Leeds over the next few months.

CREN is designed to be an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and cross-institutional network, and therefore the meeting will be open to all postgraduate students, regardless of discipline, who want to find out more.

If you are interested in finding out more about CREN, but are unable to attend this meeting, then you can either go to our website http://www.cren.org.uk, or email Katie Markham (sskjm@leeds.ac.uk) or Remi Joseph-Salisbury (r.salisbury@leeds.ac.uk) to be added to our mailing list.

Please feel free to pass this email on to anyone who you think might be interested, and we look forward to meeting some of you next Tuesday!

Best wishes,

Katie Markham & Remi-Joseph Salisbury
