Are there disabled parking spaces nearby?

2 blue badge parking spaces are available by the University Health Service which is located opposite from HRI. There are also 2 blue badge spaces available by the Jessops Building (S3 7RD), which is further up the road from the ICOSS Building. Unfortunately, we are not able to reserve these spaces specifically for our event.

Is there a quiet room/prayer room available?

There is a quiet/prayer room available in the smaller breakout room within the HRI building.

Is there a hearing aid loop system?

Unfortunately the HRI building does not have a hearing aid loop system

Will there be accessible and gender neutral toilets available?

There are gender neutral and accessible toilets inside the building. There are also gender neutral toilets available in the Diamond Building which is 3 minutes from the venue.

Is there an elevator available in the building?

No, there is no elevator available, but everything in the building is on the same level.

Are the doors heavy to open?

The door to the entrance of the venue is automated. The doors to the atrium (and towards the toilets) can be heavy to push open, and will be kept open during breaks and for the first 5 minutes of the presentations.

Are creche facilities available?

Unfortunately, this is not something we can provide at this point in time. Our events are open to people of all ages, so even if childcare cannot be arranged please bring them along for the event. However, please be aware that there may be some themes discussed that you may not consider child-friendly.

Do the buildings have strobe lighting?

No

Can you provide a BSL interpreter?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide a BSL interpreter at this event

Are there regular breaks?

We have scheduled a long break after the discussants provide their opening remarks (with light refreshments provided).

Do you have the capability to produce materials in Braille?

Unfortunately, we do not have the capability to produce promotional material in Braille.

Is ableist language challenged in this event?

All racist, sexist, classist, ableist and transphobic language will be challenged and can result in the person(s) using such oppressive language being asked to leave. In the event that oppressive language is used which we do not challenge, please do let us know so that we can also get better in supporting participants within these spaces.

Is food provided? If so, what kinds of food, and how is it presented?

Light refreshments will be provided for this event, all of which will be clearly labelled – however, if you have any strict dietary requirements that you would like us to know, please do email us at contactcren@gmail.com
