This event will be taking place in:
Ron Johnston Research Room (Level C),
Department of Geography
University of Sheffield
Sheffield S3 7N
Please see the university map for the department’s location (building 102)
When arriving at the Department, go up to Level C, through the cafe area to access the Ron Johnston Research Room.
For transportation to the department, please see below.
Bus: The 95 bus runs from the train station and stops right outside the Department of Geography: further information on planning your journey can be found on the Travel South Yorkshire pages.
Tram: From the Railway Station, you can take a tram which is approximately 10 minutes away from the Department.
Trams from the station to the University run on the Blue route (destination “Malin Bridge”).
Trams from the city centre to the University run on both the Blue route and the Yellow route (destination “Middlewood”).
During the day, trams run every 10 minutes (15 minutes on Sundays) from 6.00am to midnight. Buy your tickets on the trams. Alight at the “University of Sheffield” stop. This is a request stop.
Car: General parking is very difficult around the University, so you are advised not to use a car unless you are assured of a parking space.
1 blue badge parking space is available outside the department. Additional spaces are available across the road at the Bartolome house parking (S3 7ND). The University disabled parking bays are open for anyone to use but we are unable to reserve them. If a visitor is a blue badge holder they will need to display this but will not need a visitors permit.
Taxi: If you are coming from the train station, there is a taxi rank by the station. If you would prefer to call a taxi company, you can contact City Taxis at 0114 266 2662. Taxis normally cost approximately £6 from the station to the department.
Walk: It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk to the Geography department from the train station
